The myth of how the centaur came to be, came to my attention. So two Greeks walk into a bar (I’m making some mild changes), a man and a woman. And everyone expects the guy to go with her, but instead he’s like, “nah”, and goes and hooks up with this beast instead. 9 months later there’s a beast/man born, and they call the bub “Centaur”. Cute.
My version doesn’t involve hard to pronounce names and has less rape, so I’m sticking with it.
The point of the story to the Spartans was about taking chances and doing what hasn’t been done before. This didn’t result in them hitting on beasts, but meant instead they approached life willing to take chances, to do the unthinkable in order to attain greatness. That message is the important bit.
