DoNotDesign.org

On wednesday at 11am I have to submit donotdesign.org

This work is the culmination of a particular 15 week semester. This work is responsible for inventing the word postcategorisation, and demonstrates a new type of non-commercial graphic/typographic form. Through explorations of Family Feud, The War on Terror, the Sydney water shortage, Christians in Norway and ninja’s, I hope to provoke some people to contemplate their position in the world.

The work is ambitious for numerous reasons. Mostly because it is not what was asked for. Designers don't generally suggest not designing. And typically, when asked to design, they do it. I have potentially insulted a lot of people inculding my peers, but also quite possibly the people marking the work. On top of that, what I am supposed to be handing in is an integration of graphics and object design. Instead, they have to decide whether or not they will read the 8000 word streaming essayesque work I have done. If the answer is no, which they would be right to do, I may fail this course.

If I fail, I haven't really figured out how to deal with that. At the same time though, I know this is will be the best thing I have ever done in many people's eyes. I haven't got enough perspective to decide if I think it is or not right now. Time will tell.
